1860 Hunneman Hand Pumper
This early pumper for the Salem Fire Department was built by an apprentice of Paul Revere. It required the use of human power to pull it to the fire scene, and in turn was also pumped by hand upon its arrival! It is currently housed and on display at Salem's Fire Station #5.

Tools for the Trade
A helmet can be a versatile tool. It protects the you from debris (or rain) from falling on your head. It can light your way. It advertises your presence with reflective striping. It identifies who you are, your rank, who you work for, and where you belong. Sometimes, all of these things simultaneously.

Wheat Field
Driving home the other day I pass by this wheat field along Perkins Rd. The light made it look inviting, but man was it hot outside. It was also another chance to try out a new Lensbaby Velvet 85 lens.

New Camera / Old Lens - One of the things I was curious to see was how well an old film lens (Minolta 50mm f/1.7) would do on a new camera (Sony A7RII). Thanks to focus peaking and in-camera image stabilization, I'm able to manually focus with a certain amount of accuracy. I know, that's a lot of geek speak, but I'm happy with the results I can get with a lens that costs less than $50 in today's market.
