Even though it was cloudy and rainy at Grand Canyon NP, it did not ruin or limit the depth and impact of the landscape. Standing at the edge of the South Rim was breathtaking.

Looking south toward the Three Sisters, this 25 second image is what I came to the Dee Wright Observatory to capture. The clear, moonless night at high altitude and no light polution provided some near perfect conditions.
This is a photograph that I just couldn’t pass up. Shot from above US Hwy 30 in Linton, across the Willamette River, the St John’s Bridge, and to the east of Portland is Mt Hood all lit up from a spectacular sunset. The 70-200 lens really brings the mountain close. At 200mm, it looks as though the mountain is just on the other side of that water tower and that you could reach out and touch it!
